Dick Strayer, Founder/CEO

With over 35 years of organizational consulting experience in over 300 life science and high technology companies, Dick has earned an excellent reputation with CEOs and the venture capital community. Dick's professional expertise lies in organization and executive development, particularly founder transitions, succession planning, top-management team building, and CEO / executive coaching.

As a professional advisor or limited partner to more than 25 venture capital firms, Dick has provided both pre-deal due diligence and post- funding consultation to startup teams. His consultation has included CEO / executive coaching and team building for over 100 pre-IPO companies. More than an advisor, Dick is an activist -- a catalyst for change. For this reason, he is known by the venture capital community as the person to call when tough people issues inhibit startup success.

Dick also provides coaching and consultation to CEOs and senior executives in public corporations. In this capacity, he helps the CEOs diagnose organizational and interpersonal issues and define change and development plans. His work often involves succession planning, executive team building as well as planning for broader organizational and structural change.

Dick maintains professional affiliations with the American
Psychology Association and the Bay Area Organizational
Development Network. He earned his MA and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology from Claremont Graduate School in 1971 and 1973, respectively. He completed a Post-Doctorate, with a focus on clinical and organizational behavior at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in 1973-74, and later earned an MBA in Marketing from
Boston University in 1979.

Bill Tobin, Partner, Strayer Consulting Group, Inc.

Bill Tobin brings over 25 years of consulting and high technology experience to Strayer Consulting from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), public companies such as Sun Microsystems, Intel, Ampex, RasterOps, and 3DO, and as a founding executive and board member at startups DotRocket and MediaFlex.

Bill is an experienced business consultant and coach who brings technical savvy, business discipline and an orientation towards people to his work with clients; he specializes in helping companies implement major strategic and operational initiatives that require an integrated, cross-functional approach.

He is an advisor and former chairman of the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab, an advisor at the Entrepreneurs Foundation and the Software Development Forum, and also is active in a variety of other Bay Area organizations that work with entrepreneurs and early stage companies.

Bill has an undergraduate engineering degree from Drexel University and has completed post-graduate engineering and business studies at Stanford University and the University of California.


Samantha Raniere, Partner, Strayer Consulting Group, Inc.

Samantha brings over 18 years of experience in leadership coaching, team effectiveness and change management, having worked for and with a multitude of companies, from start-up to Fortune 500. Through in-depth analysis and assessment, she enables leaders and their teams to maximize their strengths and achieve peak business performance. Her unique ability to quickly build trust with leaders and individuals, her direct and authentic communication style and an ability to recognize and understand individuals' talents enables Samantha to quickly arrive at game changing solutions. Her approach cuts through the complexity that often surrounds issues and opportunities, arriving at root causes to generate simple, practical solutions that work for both leaders and their teams.

Samantha is passionate about improving performance in leaders and teams. She uses a Strengths-based approach; identifying and focusing on a leader's talents and helping them use what comes naturally to drive business success. She knows that every leader is an individual and to achieve success, each session is customized to the desired business outcome.

Samantha has a BA in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and an MA in Clinical Psychology from American University. Her certifications include: Gallup Strengths Coach, MBTI, William Bridge's Organizational Transition workshops and numerous 360 feedback tools.


Paul Bianchi, Principal, Strayer Consulting Group, Inc.

Paul Bianchi is an experienced and successful Human Capital executive and consultant with over 25 years of high technology leadership experience from innovative companies like NeXT, Apple, Ask Jeeves PeopleSoft and Illumina.

In his role as the senior leader of HR and human capital for technology companies, Paul has focused on leading organization, culture and people development strategies, including designing and delivering CEO and executive officer succession efforts, creating and managing Top Talent and Leadership Development programs and delivering Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Org Change efforts to increase productivity, engagement and profitability.

Outside of the CHRO role, Paul has served as a Principal Consultant at Strayer Consulting Group. At Strayer, Paul developed engagements and delivered Organizational Change and Development services to a wide variety of clients from small start-ups to large multi-billion dollar companies. His work included CEO Succession Planning, Executive Team Development, Executive and Leadership Development and Coaching, interim Human Resources leadership and M&A culture and leadership Integration.

Paul has a Masters in Management from the University of Kent, Canterbury (UK) and a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics, with a Minor in Rhetoric, from the University of California, Davis. He has been certified as a Senior Professional in HR, has taught at San Jose State University and has spoken on various topics at HR conferences.

Sally Wilder, MSW, Senior Consultant,

Sally has over 15 years of experience specializing in executive development, teambuilding, coaching, organization assessment and managing change. She has worked closely with venture capital firms, board members and executive teams to help them achieve their organization’s goals. Her experience includes working with over 90 companies, including 35 start-ups. Sally has strong international experience, having worked in India and Europe for over 8 years. This real-time cultural sensitivity has helped her work effectively with difficult cross cultural team issues.

Sally received a BA in Sociology from Indiana University. She holds a Masters degree from San Jose State University and is a graduate of University Associates, as well as a Certified Trainer in Organization Development, Situational Leadership and Myers Briggs. She worked as a participant and Facilitator for the Interpersonal Dynamics Course in the MBA program at Stanford University.

Sydney is a partner in Joyner Strayer Consulting and president of The Joyner Group, LTD. She earned her MBA with a concentration in organizational development from Marylhurst University in Lake Oswego, Oregon, and holds a BA degree in speech and hearing pathology, with additional postgraduate work in broadcast communications. Einar Westerlund, Laguna Beach, CA & Canada. President, Westerlund Strayer Assoc.

Einar has been a senior consultant with Strayer Consulting since the company's inception, assisting in training, coaching, and organizational development in several dozen organizations from start-ups and early stage growth companies through Strayer's largest multi-national clients.

In this capacity, he's represented the practice in numerous client projects across the globe. He began his career with the General Electric Company following his graduation from Yale University following studies in English and Psychology. From there he progressed to an executive position with the A.C.Nielsen market research organization, before co-founding a successful training company which he led for nearly 20 years. He then became an independent OD consultant, later joining Strayer Consulting. Based in Southern California, and also continuing work internationally, he continues to serve as Director of Special Projects at the Centre for Business Venturing, part of the Queen's University School of Business in Canada.
